Outlets & Switches in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Outlets and switches are the parts of your electrical system you touch every day — and the parts that wear out first. Loose outlets that won't hold a plug, switches that crackle, GFCIs that have aged out, rooms with two-prong outlets that won't accept a modern plug.

We replace, add, and upgrade devices across Fort Lauderdale homes: standard and GFCI outlets, USB charging outlets, dimmers, smart switches, and bringing older homes up to proper grounding and protection.

When Devices Need Replacement

Plugs that fall out loosely — the internal contacts have worn and are arcing. Switches that spark, crackle, or feel hot. Outlets with scorch marks or a burning smell: stop using those immediately and call us. GFCIs that won't test or reset have aged out.

In older Victoria Park and Colee Hammock homes, we still find original devices from decades ago. They're inexpensive to replace and it's one of the highest-value safety upgrades in an old house.

GFCI Protection Where Water Lives

Kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry areas, and anywhere outdoors should have GFCI protection — it's the device that prevents electrocution around water. Many older Fort Lauderdale homes are missing it entirely, or have one dead GFCI silently protecting nothing downstream.

We test your existing protection and bring the wet locations up to current safety standards, usually in a single visit.

Upgrades Worth Doing

USB charging outlets in bedrooms and kitchens — fewer wall warts, cleaner counters. Proper dimmers matched to your LED bulbs, which ends the flicker that mismatched dimmers cause. Smart switches where you actually want them, wired correctly. And tamper-resistant outlets where kids are in the house.

Common questions

My plugs fall out of the outlet. Is that actually dangerous?

Yes. Loose contacts arc and overheat inside the box. Stop using that outlet and have it replaced — it's a quick, inexpensive fix.

Why do my LED bulbs flicker on the dimmer?

The dimmer was designed for incandescent bulbs. Modern LEDs need a compatible dimmer — we swap the dimmer, not your whole lighting plan.

Can you add outlets where there are none?

Usually yes. We run new circuits or extend existing ones to code, with a permit where required. Tell us where you need them and we'll quote it in writing.
